Skin care is important for everyone, but particularly important if you have swelling or lymphoedema. When swelling is present it is far easier for skin breaks to occur and if they do, they often heal slowly or have a tendancy to ulcerate. Skin can also become much more sensitive, and reactions to perfumes, soaps and adhesive medical tape are all common. The skin care component of Lymphatic Therapy focusses on cleaning, moisurising and protecting the skin.  A few companies are even producing skin products which are aimed at those with lymphoedema.
